The Kearsley Varsity boys and girls participated in the Davison Mixed Doubles Holiday Tournament on Saturday, December 30th. The tournament was held at Kearsley’s home house Richfield Bowl. Kearsley entered 10 mixed doubles teams, more than any other school and out of those 10 teams entered 7 of them made the cut to the final 32 for match play. The highest qualifying team was the mixed team of Alexis Roof and Kyle Langworthy who qualified 4th overall, other mixed teams that made the cut were Barbara Hawes and Seth Varner, Megan Timm and Justin Todd, Emma Boychuk and Chase Gebhardt, Karlee Griffin and Jake Reid, Allison Robbins and Nathan Maxwell and Mary Wheeler and Lee Burgess. 4 of those 7 mixed teams made it to the round of 16 and 3 of those 4 teams made it to the final 8 before all 3 teams were eliminated. Finishing 5th overall was the mixed team of Alexis Roof and Kyle Langworthy, finishing 7th was the mixed team of Karlee Griffin and Jake Reid and finishing 8th was the mixed team of Barbara Hawes and Seth Varner.
A couple of other highlights of the tournament were that Kearsley had 3 girls make the all tournament team, Alexis Roof (2nd), Karlee Griffin (4th) and Emma Boychuk (8th). Alexis Roof had the high girls game of the tournament with a 236 game. Congratulations to the boys and girls on a great showing at this tournament.
The girls next competition will be on Saturday, January 6th against Clio at Colonial Lanes in Flushing at 2pm.
