The Kearsley Varsity Girls traveled to Monitor Lanes in Bay City on Sunday, February 10th for the 9th annual S & R Singles Tournament. It is a tune up for Regionals that will take place at the same bowling alley in less than 2 weeks and if the results of the tournament have any bearing on Regionals things are looking good for Kearsley. The Kearsley girls had 7 girls bowling and 6 of them qualified in the top 13 and the 7th girls finished in 28th place. Leading the way was Junior Imari Blond who qualified 1st overall with a score of 1264, qualifying 3rd was Senior Alexis Roof with a 1159 total, 5th was Junior Samantha Timm with a 1141 total, 8th was Sophomore Allison Eible with a 1111 total, 9th was Sophomore Emilea Sturk with a 1105 total and 13th was Allison Robbins with a 1078 and Megan Timm qualified 28th with a 983 total. The tournament was cut to the top 18 girls who then bowled 1 match game and moving into the top 10 were Imari Blond, Alexis Roof, Allison Eible and Samantha Timm. In the next round Imari Blond won her match and Allison Eible won to move into the final 5 step ladder finals. Imari was seeded #1 overall so she had to wait for everyone else to bowl and Allison Eible was seeded #3 overall. Allison defeated Gladwin by a score of 205 to 157 to move into the final 3 and then squeeked out a narrow victory over Garber High by a score of 146 to 143 to set up an all Kearsley final. Imari came out strong and won the tournament with a 256 to 176 victory in the finals for her 2nd straight victory in this tournament. Imari earned 100 points ($500) in scholarship money and Allison Eible earned 80 points ($400) in scholarship money for their finishes in the tournament. Overall a great day for the Lady Hornets!
