The Kearsley Varsity girls participated in the S & R Singles Tournament at Monitor Lanes in Bay City on Sunday, February 11th. The tournament was a singles tournament with a 6 game qualifier and the top 18 girls made the cut into match play. Kearsley entered all 7 girls from the varsity team and they dominated the field of 80 girls who bowled today. All 7 girls made the cut to the round of match play, here is how they finished in qualifying: Imari Blond 2nd Place (1385 total), Emma Boychuk 3rd Place (1124 total), Barbara Hawes 4th place (1091 total), Alexis Roof 5th place (1086 total), Allison Robbins 12th place (1035 total), Mary Wheeler 13th place (1030 total), Karlee Griffin 13th place (1030 total).
The first round of match play the top 2 seeds received a bye and the rest of the girls bowled a head to head match with the winners moving into the final 10. In the final 10 Kearsley had 5 girls advance (Imari, Emma, Barbara, Karlee, Mary). The next round had 4 Kearsley girls advance to the final 5 as Imari, Emma, Barbara and Mary advanced to the step ladder finals.
In the step ladder first round Barbara Hawes defeated Mary Wheeler 211 to 195. In the 2nd match of step ladders Barbara Hawes defeated Emma Boychuk 233 to 160, in the 3rd round of step ladders Kendyl Hofmeister from Essexville Garber defeated Barbara Hawes 182 to 180 and in the finals of the tournament Imari Blond defeated Kendyl Hofmeister by a final score of 234 to 170. Congratulations to all of the Kearsley girls, an impressive showing by having all 7 girls make the cut to the final 18 bowlers and having 4 of the final 5 bowlers was impressive.
