The Kearsley Bowling program hosted the 2nd Regional Tune Up Tournament at Richfield Bowl on Sunday, February 17th. The tournament featured 20 boys teams and 21 girls teams with a lot of the state ranked teams in attendance especially from Division 1 since Davison will be hosting a regional at Richfield on Friday morning. The Kearsley girls started the tournament out on fire as they had Baker games of 200, 142, 172, 217, 227, 189, 176 and 230 as they held a big lead going into the 2 individual games for qualifying. In the 2 individual games the Kearsley girls were the only team in the entire tournament to have 2 games over 1000 as they had a 1048 game and a 1039 to finish with a 3640 total for qualifying. This total was 511 pins ahead of 2nd place qualifier Lake Orion.
After the cut to the top 8 teams, the Kearsley girls were matched up with Clarkston in the first round and they defeated Clarkston 359 to 299 to move into the final 4. In the final 4 the Kearsley girls ran into a team that has given the Kearsley girls fits this season in Lapeer but the Kearsley girls would not be denied as they pulled out a close 362 to 356 victory to move into the finals against Lake Orion who defeated Davison and Swartz Creek to reach the finals. The finals was exciting as Kearsley won the first game 191 to 178 and then won the 2nd game 184 to 169 to win the tournament with a 375 to 347 victory. This was a great showing for the team as the tournament was bowled on the pattern that will be on the lanes for Regionals and State Finals.
For the day, Kearsley had 3 girls named to the All Tournament Team as Imari Blond led the tournament with games of 247 and 234 for a 481 total, Alexis Roof was 2nd with games of 222 and 225 for a 447 total and 3rd was Megan Timm with games of 232 and 210 for a 442 total.
