The Kearsley Bowling program entered 10 mixed doubles team in the Davison Holiday Mixed Doubles Tournament that was held on Sunday, December 29th at Richfield Bowl. The mixed doubles teams were paired up based on averages as the Hornets had 3 JV teams bowling with the varsity teams. The day started with 3 individual games for both the boys and girls and then they bowled (2) Baker games for qualifying. The tournament attracted 75 teams from 15 different schools and the field was cut to the top 32 teams after qualifying. Kearsley was well represented as 8 out of the 10 Kearsley teams entered made the cut to the top 32. On the girls side Kearsley had 4 girls named to the All Tournament Team as Junior Samantha Timm led the entire tournament on the girls side with a 627 actual series which included a 242 game. Also making the All Tournament team was Junior Hannah Simms with a 576 total that included the highest game of the day by any bowler with a 266 game. Finishing 4th overall was Senior Alexis Roof with a 573 series and finishing 7th overall was Sophomore Megan Timm with a 522 series.
The tournament moved to a 2 Game Baker match play after the cut was made and after the first round of match play Kearsley had 4 teams advance to the final 16. Advancing to the final 16 were the #1 seed team of Samantha Timm and Ethan Burke, the #4 seed team of Alexis Roof and Kyle Langworthy, the #7 team of Megan Timm and Devin Smith and the #13 seed of Imari Blond and Lawson Boshaw. In the round of 16 Kearsley had 3 of the 4 teams advance to the final 8 as the only team to lose was the team of Alexis and Kyle. In the round of 8 Kearsley had 2 of the 3 teams left advance to the final 4 and both teams were on opposite sides of the bracket. The mixed team of Samantha Timm and Ethan Burke ended up bowling a mixed team from Midland High and the team of Imari Blond and Lawson Boshaw bowled against a mixed team from Flushing. Both of the mixed teams from Kearsley won their semi final matches and advanced to the finals to have an all Kearsley final for the first time ever. In the finals the mixed team of Imari Blond and Lawson Boshaw won the first match play game by a score of 195 to 167 and then went on to win the 2nd match play game by a score of 191 to 179 as they won the tournament title. The Lady Hornets were well represented all day with 4 girls making the all tournament team and 2 mixed teams making it to the finals. Congratulations to the Kearsley Bowling program today!
The next competition will be a Metro Conference match against Swartz Creek on Wednesday, January 2nd at 6:30pm at Richfield Bowl.
