Flushing High School vs Kearsley High School

The Kearsley varsity girls bowling team traveled to Holly for a Metro Conference showdown with Flushing on Saturday, February 2nd. The match didn’t start well for the Lady Hornets as they came out cold and bowled Baker games of 153 and 132 to Flushings 174 and 212. The Lady Hornets were down 10-0 and more importantly down by 101 pins in the total pins. Facing a very big uphill climb the Lady Hornets began the first individual game much the same way the Baker games went and half way through the game the tide turned and the Lady Hornets began to claw their way back into the match, they somehow pulled out the team game in the end by a final score of 902 to 832 and they won 3 individual points and they were still trailing Flushing by 31 pins. As the 2nd and final individual game began the momentum was definitely in the Hornets favor as they filled all but 1 frame through the first 4 frames and they were on their way. The Lady Hornets ended up winning the last individual game by a score of 983 to 787 as they pulled out the all important 2 points for total pins to swing the match in their favor. The total final pinfall for the match was Kearsley 2170 to Holly 2005 and the final score was 17 to 13. This was the closest match the Lady Hornets have had in a few years as they really showed some championship fight. Scores for the Kearsley girls were: Allison Eible 148, Megan Timm 182 & 178, Alexis Roof 178 & 189, Imari Blond 205 & 254, Emilea Sturk 189 & 197 and Allison Robbins 165. The win moves the Lady Hornets record to 14-0 on the season and clinches at least a share of the Metro Conference Title for the 10th straight season and keeps their 10 year winning streak alive at 118 straight matches. The next competition will be on Sunday, February 3rd as the girls will all be participating in the Carman Ainsworth Singles Tournament at Grand Blanc Lanes starting at 9:30am. The next Metro Conference match is Wednesday, February 6th at Grand Blanc Lanes against Clio starting at 6pm.
