Kearsley came out strong and scored the first seven points of the game and held on to the lead the rest of the game to earn the first victory of the season. Anthony McMasters scored 17 points in the first half and ended the game with a career high 21 points. Brendon Silvas led all scorers with a career high 23 points with 11 of his points coming in the 3rd quarter.

Kearsley lost to Holly 74-106 tonight but overall the swimmers swam well. Senior Chris Shipman had another stell r night with two first place individual finishes; 50 free,(23.02), 100 Back (57.44) and a second place in the 400 free relaywith teammates Ryan Walker, Jeremy Dinnan(CLIO) and Trent Kehoe.Othe solid performers tonight were first year swimmer Junior Phi lCaudle with 50 yard free swims of 29.50 or better, sophomore Trent Kehoe with 2nd place finishes in both the 200 I.M and 100 Breaststroke.Junior Brendan Evenson finsihed 3rd in both the 200 I.M amd Diving and was on the winning 200 free relay team with teammates Phil Caudle, Joey Foster, and Joe Mier. Clio's Jeremy Dinnan had a solid night with 3rd place finishes in the 100 fly and 100 back.

The Kearsley Varsity Girls defeated Lapeer West by a final score of 30-0 today in a Metro Conference Match at B's Bowling. The Hornets started the match with Baker games of 206 and 245 as Lapeer West bowled games of 161 and 177. The 451 two game Baker set is the highest in the state so far this season for girls teams and staked the Hornets to a 10-0 lead heading into the individual games. In the individual games the Hornets remained consistent as the team had games of 914 and 931 to Lapeer West games of 747 and 704. The final total pinfall for the match was Kearsley 2296 to Lapeer West 1789. The Hornets were led by Katelynn Maxwell with games of 196 and 185, Dani Doolan had games of 190 and 179, Hannah Ploof had a 185 game, Teagan MacDonald had a 205 game, and Anna Rutledge had a 193 game. The Hornets are now 3-0 and tied for 1st place in the Metro Conference with Lapeer East, their next match is Saturday, January 11th at Cherry Hill Lanes in Clarkston at 1pm against Holly.

Kearsley Varsity Bowling entered 9 teams in the Davison Mixed Doubles Tournament today at Richfield Bowl where 96 mixed doubles teams from around the state participated. The Kearsley bowlers continued the impressive bowling as 8 out of the 9 teams entered made the cut to the top 32 teams and the mixed doubles team of Anna Rutledge and Ben Roof went on to win the tournament championship. Kearsley's high qualifier was the mixed team of Dani Doolan and Brandon Richard who qualified 8th overall and made it to the final 4 before being eliminated by a team from Waterford Mott.The team of Hannah Ploof and Chad Stephen qualified 10th overall, the team of Becca Iversen and Anthony Kelley qualifed 12th overall and the team of Kayla Emmendorfer and Peter Sorsen qualified 17th. Other qualifiers were the team of Katelynn Maxwell and Lucas Schofield who qualified 18th, Anna Rutledge and Ben Roof who qualified 22nd, Alexxa Flood and Phil Hawes who qualified 28th and Teagan MacDonald and KC O'Brien who qualified 30th. The teams of Emmendorfer/Sorsen and Maxwell/Schofield also made it to the final 16 before being eliminated. In the final match the team of Rutledge/Roof defeated the team of Land/Sandstrom from Waterford Mott with games of 208 and 156 as the team from Waterford Mott bowled games of 156 and 151. Other highlights from today, Kearsley had 2 girls make the all tournament team as Anna Rutledge finished 4th overall with a 3 game total of 572 that included a 222 game and Kayla Emmendorfer finished 6th overall with a 3 game total of 556. On the boys side Brandon Richard made the all tournament team with a 3 game total of 610 which include a 212 game. The Hornets have had a very successful holiday break as both the boys and girls won the Baker's Dozen Tournament last week and then had a winning mixed doubles team today. The Bowling teams will resume the Metro Conference schedule next Saturday with a match against Lapeer West at B's Bowling at 11am.

The Kearsley Varsity Girls traveled to Bay City today for the 8th annual Baker’s Dozen Tournament hosted by Bay City Western and for the 3rd straight year the Kearsley Girls captured the tournament championship. The varsity girls led from start to finish as they compiled a 12-1 record in match play qualifying. Kearsley finished with a 13 game total of 2725, good for a 209 average and a 163 pin advantage over the #2 qualifier Bangor John Glenn. In the first round of match play Kearsley defeated Freeland by a score of 337 to 247. In the final 6 the Kearsley girls defeated Swartz Creek by a score of 391 to 300 and in the finals Kearsley defeated Davison by a score of 417 to 368. Congratulations to Kayla Emmendorfer, Katelynn Maxwell, Dani Doolan, Alexxa Flood, Anna Rutledge, Becca Iversen and Hannah Ploof.

After struggling in the Baker games and going down 10-0 the hornets pulled it together in the team games and pulled out a very close 17-13 win. The hornets were lead by Anthony Kelley with games of 213 and 236. Peter Sorsen not only had a solid 215 and 199, but he also came through when needed the mose when he threw the first strike in the tenth frame of the second game for the win. Phil Hawes came off the bench and had a solid 202. Other highlights Chad Stephen had a 212, and Brandon Richard a 207. It was a great come back win for the hornets to start the season off 2-0.
