Hornets News · Coach Jim Vanitvelt to be inducted into the MHSCA Hall of Fame

Longtime Kearsley teacher and coach Jim Vanitvelt is set to be inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in a ceremony to be held at the Bovee University Center on the campus of Central Michigan University on September 16th, 2018.

Jim had an illustrious coaching career spanning five decades as a Head Varsity Coach in four different sports (Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Baseball, and Softball) where he racked up a 316 wins on the hardwood and 631 career wins overall. His teams at Kearsley, Clio, Lakeville, Powers, Lake Fenton, and Saginaw Nouvel won five district titles and the 1975 Baseball State Championship at Powers. He was named the State Coach of the Year in 1975 along with the Genesee County Coach of the Year that same year. He garnered four District Coach of the Year awards during his career.

A High School Teacher for 38 years, his impact on kids was immeasurable. Congrats Coach V on this wonderful accomplishment!
