KHS Seniors Zach Elizondo, Emily Harper and Kassidy Krist were honored at today’s Kiwanis Scholar-Athlete of the Year banquet at Genesys Banquet Center.
Emily was one of only four area recipients of the Kiwanis Educational Foundation Scholarship. She has a 3.99 GPA and played soccer, tennis and ran cross country. Emily received the prestigious president’s scholarship at Northern Michigan University where she will study pre-medicine.
Zach Elizondo is a three-time Flint Metro League individual champion in wresting and has also been a state qualifier. He helped lead Kearsley to back-to-back Flint Metro League championship as a junior and senior and the MHSAA state finals as a sophomore. He will attend Kettering University to major in engineering.
Kassidy Krist is a three-time 1st team all-Flint Metro League honoree. She helped lead the competitive cheer team to conference and district championships as a senior including qualifying for the MHSAA state finals. Kassidy received 2nd team all-state honors in competitive cheer.
