Game Recap

Tommy Plunkey scored two first-half touchdowns (1 running, 1 receiving) and Demonte Wheat added a 4th quarter TD run to give Kearsley a 20-13 victory over visiting Mt. Morris (1-1). Kearsley (1-1) converted 24 first first downs and outgained the Panthers 326-172 in total yardage. Wheat paced the Hornet rushing attack with 95 yards on 13 carries. Brandon Byczynski had 79 yards on 15 carries while Christian Pinkney had 71 yards on 12 carries. Kearsley quarterback Chandler Ford was 1-3 for 31 yards and a touchdown. Kearsley’s defense was led by Jamelco Harvey (5.5 tackles, 3 tackles for loss), Brandon Byczynski (5 tackles) and Malik Davis (3 tackles). The Mt. Morris defense was lead by Quinshawn Malone with 7.5 tackles. Kearsley hosts Holly (1-1) next Friday in the Flint Metro League opener for both teams.
